A 17-year-old, Class 11 student died by suicide in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district after alleging that a male teacher hit her, police said. The case has come to light just days after the alleged suicide of a 16-year-old created outrage in Delhi.
The student hanged herself at home and left a handwritten note on November 16. In it, she accused a male teacher of harassing and holding her hand while hitting her. She also says that he challenged her to open his closed fist.
Police who spoke to PTI said that the teacher allegedly pressed a pen between her fingers under the pretext of punishment. She says in the purported note that the pain was so excruciating that she lost her will to live.
The teen’s family said that she was perfectly normal at home and alleged that someone at school “tortured” her. They demanded that police examine the student's call details and conduct a thorough examination of the school, as someone had harassed her.

Police are probing all aspects to determine the reason behind the suicide.
On November 18, a 16-year-old class 10 student died after allegedly committing suicide by jumping from Delhi’s Rajendra Place Metro station. The boy left behind a note accusing his teachers and the school headmaster of constant humiliation and mental harassment. He also apologises to his parents and asks for his organs to be donated to someone who needs it.
The case sparked outrage, and groups of the boy’s relatives, parents and friends and neighbours gathered outside St Columba’s School in Delhi to demand justice. His father, Pradeep Patil, named four people: Aparajita Pal, the headmaster, and teachers Julie Varghese, Manu Kalra and Yukti Aggarwal Mahajan, accusing them of harassing his son.
