In the Wardha Municipal Council election, Congress candidate Sudhir Pangul has emerged as a key contender, taking a strong lead over BJP’s Nilesh Kite. Pangul established his advantage right from the postal ballot counting and continued to maintain the lead through the first and subsequent rounds.

BJP secures wins across multiple wards

Despite the Congress lead in Wardha, BJP candidates have performed strongly across various wards in the district. BJP leaders Satish Misal, Archana Pethe, Pradeep Thakur, Shubhangi Kolte, Dabbu Sharma and Vaishnavi Meghe have registered victories in their respective wards.

In Hinganghat, BJP’s Nayana Tulaskar has taken a decisive lead, signalling a clear march towards victory. BJP candidates are also leading in Arvi, reinforcing the party’s presence across the district.
Adding an interesting dimension to the results, an independent candidate has moved ahead in Deoli, indicating voter preference beyond the major political parties in certain pockets of Wardha district.


Voting was conducted as per the Election Commission’s schedule for six key municipal councils in Wardha district – Wardha, Hinganghat, Arvi, Sindi Railway, Pulgaon and Deoli. December 21, was fixed as the official date for the declaration of results, and counting continues to provide a clearer picture of the political landscape in the region.

Wardha Municipal Council Results: What happened in 2017?

In the 2017 Wardha Municipal Council elections, the council had a total of 38 wards. At that time, the BJP had dominated the results by winning 26 seats. 
The Congress secured 5 seats, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won 6 seats, Shiv Sena failed to win any seat, while one seat went to other candidates. The current trends are being closely compared with these earlier results to assess shifts in voter sentiment.
