XLRI Receives Top Positive Impact Rating
XLRI Xavier School of Management has received a Level 5 rating in the Positive Impact Rating 2026 for business schools. The rating places the institute in the highest category of the framework, which assesses how business schools are perceived by students in terms of their contribution to society and responsible management education.
The Positive Impact Rating looks beyond conventional academic rankings and focuses on areas such as governance, culture, programmes, learning methods, student support, public engagement and the role of institutions in society. It is based on feedback collected from students and is used to understand how business schools are responding to social, environmental and ethical responsibilities.
According to information released by XLRI, the Level 5 rating reflects its performance in the 2026 edition of the assessment. The institute has linked the recognition to its work in responsible leadership, sustainability and social impact.
The rating comes at a time when management education is being evaluated not only on placements and academic outcomes but also on how institutions prepare students to engage with wider social and environmental challenges. Business schools are increasingly being expected to include ethics, sustainability and responsible leadership within teaching, research and campus practices.
For students, such assessments may offer an additional lens to understand how institutions approach management education beyond classroom learning. However, ratings remain one of several indicators and need to be read alongside academic programmes, faculty, research, industry exposure and student outcomes.
The announcement adds to the continuing discussion on the role of business schools in shaping managers who can respond to complex organisational and societal issues.
