Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday and announced the company’s largest-ever investment in Asia, committing more than $17.5 billion (around ₹1.5 lakh crore) to develop artificial intelligence capabilities in India.

In a post on X, Nadella said: “Thank you, PM @narendramodi ji, for an inspiring conversation on India’s AI opportunity. To support the country’s ambitions, Microsoft is committing US$17.5B — our largest investment ever in Asia — to help build the infrastructure, skills, and sovereign capabilities needed for India’s AI-first future. @PMOIndia”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the decision, saying the move reflects global confidence in India’s growing leadership in artificial intelligence.
