Kerala Local Body Election Result 2025 Live Updates: Kerala voted in two phases on December 9 and 11 to elects representative in 12,931 wards across 604 local bodies in the state. The polling was held smoothly with many politicians, including Kerala CM Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Thiruvanathpuram MP Shashi Tharoor, Shama Mohamed and suspended MLA Ram Mamkoothali, among others.
In the phase 1, a total of 36,620 candidates contested for 11,167 wards in 595 local bodies across the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam.

In the second phase on Dec 11, a total of 38,994 candidates were in the fray for 12,931 wards across 604 local bodies in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.
Counting of votes
The counting of vote is underway today across 244 counting centres and 14 collectorates. The results of all the local bodies, except for Mattannur municipality in Kannur District — where polls did not take place as the elections are due only in Sept 2027 — will be announced today.
According to the schedule, the election to the Keralalocal bodies is to be completed by Dec 18, 2025.
Last election results
The main contenders in the Kerala local bodies election are the Left Democratic Front (LDF), Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The results would be crucial as Kerala is just months away from state polls, and these ward and municipalities election would signal in which direction the wind is blowing in the state.

In 2020, the LDF registered a strong victory, retaining dominance across most local bodies by winning 514 grama panchayats, 108 block panchayats, 11 district panchayats, 35 municipalities and 5 corporations.
On the other hand, the UDF won 37.9% vote share and 321 grama panchayats, 38 block panchayats, 1 district panchayat, 23 municipalities and 1 corporation.
The NDA got only 15% vote share by winning just 19 gram panchayats.
