The Aranmula Boat Race 2024 concluded with great enthusiasm in Kerala, India. This traditional snake boat race is part of the annual Onam festival celebrations at the Parthasarathy Temple in Aranmula.
The winning team this year was the \“Kallooparamban Boat Team\“ from the local village. They showcased exceptional teamwork and paddling skills to secure the victory in the fiercely competitive race.
The Aranmula Boat Race features the unique \“Palliyodam\“ snake boats, which are massive wooden vessels measuring approximately 100 feet in length. Each boat accommodates about 100 rowers, 4 helmsmen, and 25 singers who provide the rhythm for paddling. The race is not just a sporting event but also a significant cultural and religious tradition that attracts thousands of spectators from across India and abroad.
The victory celebration included traditional rituals, cultural performances, and the distribution of prizes to the winning team members. The Aranmula Boat Race continues to be an important platform for preserving and promoting Kerala\“s rich cultural heritage and traditional boat-making craftsmanship. |
