NEW DELHI: In an initiative aimed at helping around 200 cities effectively manage and process their municipal solid waste, govt on Saturday launched 'Swachh Shehar Jodi' (SSJ) programme. The initiative officially pairs mentor cities with mentee cities, allowing the latter to directly learn from and replicate best practices of well-performing cities.Rolling out the first such structured mentorship and collaborative action programme, involving 72 mentor cities and 200 mentee cities, housing and urban affairs minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the aim is to ensure that "every city benefits from the collective knowledge pool of Swachh Bharat Mission". The minister said, "Swachh Shehar Jodi is not just a ceremonial partnership. It is one of the largest structured, time-bound and outcome-driven mentorship arrangements in urban waste management sector."
