Bihar assembly election 2025: The second phase of polling in Biharwill take place on Tuesday (Nov 11), when people from across 122 constituencies will vote, concluding the high-stake assembly elections in the state. During phase 1 on Nov 6, voting was held in 121 constituencies when 1,314 candidates were in fray.
The campaigning witnessed promises, allegations from all the sides as the ruling NDA coalition, and opposition’s Mahagathbandhan. Trying their fate as the “new option” for Bihar, Jan Suraaj has also been trying to make inroads in a state which has largely been governed by the Janata Dal (United) (JDU) or Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

How are votes counted?

The counting of votes is performed by counting supervisors appointed by the Returning Officer (RO). The counting staff is appointed through a three stage randomisation process to ensure impartiality. At the counting centres, candidates, their counting agents and election agents are also present in the counting hall.

The counting of votes begin with Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballots (ETPB) and Postal Ballots (PB). These votes are counted under the direct supervision of the RO, and the counting of EVM votes usually starts 30 minutes after the commencement of PB counting, even if all PBs have not been counted.
At the end of each round of counting, the results from 14 EVMs are declared, according to PRS India.
