The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AM Green Group at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos, paving the way for a $25 billion investment to establish a state-of-the-art 1 gigawatt (GW) advanced compute data centre in Greater Noida.
Signed through Invest UP, the agreement marks one of the largest single investments in India’s digital infrastructure space and is aimed at meeting the rapidly growing demand for high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. The project is expected to play a pivotal role in positioning Uttar Pradesh as a leading data centre and AI hub in the country.
The proposed facility will be developed in phases, with the first phase scheduled for completion by 2028. The full 1 GW compute capacity is targeted to become operational by 2030. Once completed, the data centre will house nearly 500,000 advanced chipsets, significantly enhancing India’s AI and HPC capabilities.
According to officials, the facility will support global hyperscalers, frontier research laboratories, enterprises and India’s own AI-driven initiatives, while also providing Indian developers access to advanced chipsets to accelerate domestic AI innovation. The project aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision and AM Green Group’s plans to build a comprehensive AI full-stack ecosystem.
A key highlight of the project is its emphasis on sustainability. The data centre will operate on 24x7 carbon-free energy, leveraging a mix of wind power, solar energy and pumped storage solutions. This approach is in line with the Uttar Pradesh government’s green energy and clean development agenda.
AM Green Group Chairman Anil Chalamalasetty said the company’s foray into AI infrastructure reflects its technology-first philosophy. “AI is now integral to everyday life and will underpin the future. Our entry into the AI full-stack ecosystem is a natural extension of our vision to deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions across industries,” he said.
Company President Mahesh Kolli highlighted the role of the state government in enabling the project. “By combining 1 gigawatt of compute capacity with our 24x7 green power solutions, we are not merely building a data centre. With the support of the Uttar Pradesh government, we are creating a sustainable blueprint for the future of global AI infrastructure,” he said.
The project is expected to attract significant foreign direct investment into the region, generate thousands of high-skilled jobs and catalyse the development of a local ecosystem spanning hardware manufacturing, software development and advanced cooling technologies. Officials said Uttar Pradesh’s data centre policy, robust industrial corridors, strong connectivity and investor-friendly environment were key factors behind AM Green Group’s decision to invest in the state.
