India's technology services industry is expected to remain a key partner in global enterprise transformation as artificial intelligence (AI) adoption accelerates, with the focus shifting from routine IT services to AI-led business transformation, according to Nasscom.
The industry body said AI is changing the way technology services are delivered rather than reducing their relevance. It expects demand to rise for enterprise modernisation, AI governance, cybersecurity, data readiness and intelligent operations as organisations move AI projects from pilot stages to large-scale deployment.
The assessment was shared at the Nasscom US CEO Forum held in New York, where industry leaders and government representatives discussed the future of India's technology services sector in the AI era.
According to Nasscom, nearly 25 per cent of technology services companies have already deployed AI use cases into production. The sector is generating an estimated USD 10 billion to USD 12 billion in AI services revenue, while more than two million professionals have AI skills and around 85 per cent of technology service providers have developed agentic AI platforms.
Industry Sees New Growth Opportunities
"The next phase of AI is not about experimentation alone. Enterprises now need to convert AI capability into production value. That requires data readiness, workflow redesign, secure deployment, governance and change management," said Ravi Kumar S, Chair, Nasscom US CEO Forum. “These are areas where Indian technology services companies have deep experience and a strong opportunity to lead.”
Rajesh Nambiar, President of Nasscom, said enterprises would continue to rely on specialised technology partners as AI adoption expands.
"For more than three decades, Indian technology services companies have helped global enterprises navigate major technology shifts. That rationale for enterprise technology partnerships remains strong in the AI era," he said.
Nasscom estimated that agentic AI could create an additional USD 300 billion to USD 400 billion addressable market for technology services by 2030. It added that future growth will increasingly be driven by AI platforms, domain expertise, cybersecurity, governance frameworks and outcome-based delivery models instead of linear workforce expansion.
