Vedanta contributed Rs 62,722 crore to the national exchequer in FY26, up 13.3 per cent year-on-year, according to the company's 11th Tax Transparency Report.
The company said its cumulative contribution to government revenues over the past decade has reached Rs 4,83,034 crore. The FY26 payout accounted for around 36 per cent of its consolidated revenue from operations during the financial year.
The higher statutory contribution came in a year when Vedanta reported record financial performance. Revenue from operations rose 15 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,74,075 crore, while EBITDA increased 29 per cent to Rs 55,976 crore. Profit after tax grew 22 per cent to Rs 25,096 crore. The company also reported an improvement in its leverage, with its net debt-to-EBITDA ratio declining to 0.95x from 1.22x a year earlier.
Breakdown Of FY26 Payments
The zinc business contributed the largest share to the exchequer at Rs 19,053 crore, followed by aluminium at Rs 15,788 crore and oil and gas at Rs 11,697 crore.
Indirect taxes, including CGST, SGST and IGST, amounted to Rs 21,777 crore during FY26. Vedanta also paid Rs 14,840 crore in royalties and profit petroleum, Rs 11,897 crore through duties, cess and other levies, Rs 8,290 crore in corporate income and capital taxes, and Rs 3,188 crore in withholding taxes. Another Rs 1,180 crore was transferred to the government through dividends from the company's stake in Hindustan Zinc.
The company said royalties were paid across multiple states, including Rajasthan, Odisha, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Karnataka and Assam.

Vedanta said the report marks the 11th consecutive year of its tax transparency disclosures, with reporting aligned to the B-Team Responsible Tax Principles and the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). |
