Maharashtra Local Civic Body Election Result 2026 Live Streaming: The polling for 2026 BMC electionswere held on January 15, marking the city’s return to elected civic leadership after nearly three years. Wards and voter demographics
A total of 227 wards are going to the polls this year, and any party or alliance must cross the halfway mark of 114 seats to form the majority. More than 1.03 crore citizens are eligible to vote. Mumbaihas observed a four-day dry day period from January 13 to 16 because of the elections.

Out of the 227 wards, about 92 fall under the General category with no reservation. These include areas in South Mumbai, the Western Suburbs and parts of Central Mumbai. As these seats are open to all candidates, they usually see tough, high-stakes contests.
BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagranihas confirmed that nearly 1,700 candidates are contesting across the 227 wards this year. He said the administration is completely prepared to handle the voting and counting smoothly. As per PTI, the voter list includes 1,03,44,315 people – 55,16,707 men, 48,26,509 women and 1,099 voters registered under the Other category. |
