Cumulative ethanol supplies in India have reached 717 crore litres against contracted volumes of 1,048 crore litres as of June 2026, representing a supply achievement of 68 per cent during the ongoing supply year, according to data released by the All India Distillers Association (AIDA).

Grain-based ethanol accounts for nearly 67 per cent of total ethanol supplied at 480 crore litres, while sugarcane-based feedstocks contribute 238 crore litres, or 33 per cent of the total.

Maize remains the single largest feedstock with 258 crore litres supplied. Ethanol from surplus Food Corporation of India grains has reached 177 crore litres, Sugarcane Juice 144 crore litres, B-Heavy Molasses 82 crore litres and Damaged Food Grains 45 crore litres.

AIDA said policy support for higher ethanol blends, Flex-Fuel Vehicles, ethanol-diesel blending and next-generation biofuels would be essential to fully utilise the production capacity built by the industry and support higher blending targets beyond the E20 milestone.
