Brazil Gives Musk’s xAI 30 Days To Curb Fake Sexualised Content From Grok

Brazilian authorities on Tuesday gave Elon Musk’s xAI 30 days to halt the circulation of fake sexualised content generated by its Grok chatbot, warning of possible administrative or judicial action if the company fails to comply.
In a joint statement, Brazil’s consumer protection agency Senacon, the national data protection authority ANPD and the Office of Federal Prosecutors said they had formally notified xAI to adopt measures to curb the creation and spread of the material on the platform.
The authorities urged xAI to develop and implement technical procedures within 30 days to identify, review and remove inappropriate sexualised content, and to take down accounts linked to its production. They said further enforcement steps could follow if the company does not meet the deadline.
xAI has previously said it restricted image-editing features for Grok users after concerns emerged over the creation of hyper-realistic sexualised images, sometimes referred to as deepfakes, shared on Musk-owned social media platform X.
Brazil’s move comes amid a broader global crackdown on sexually explicit content produced by generative AI tools. Governments and regulators in recent weeks have launched probes, imposed bans and demanded stronger safeguards from developers as concerns grow over the spread of illegal and harmful material enabled by artificial intelligence.
