New Delhi, Nov 17 (IANS) — India की public sector oil companies ने 2026 contract year के लिए 2.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) LPG import का बड़ा समझौता कर लिया है। यह LPG US Gulf Coast से आएगी, और Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri ने इसे एक “historic first” बताया है।
Puri ने X पर लिखा कि दुनिया के सबसे तेज़ी से बढ़ते LPG market में से एक — India — पहली बार US से structured LPG contract कर रहा है।
यह deal India की total annual imports का करीब 10% है।
Contract Mount Belvieu benchmark पर आधारित है।
Indian Oil, BPCL और HPCL के अधिकारियों की US producers से months-long बातचीत के बाद यह agreement संभव हुआ।
Minister Puri ने कहा कि India लगातार अपनी LPG sourcing diversify कर रहा है ताकि लोगों को secure और affordable LPG supply मिलती रहे।
उन्होंने बताया कि PM Modi के नेतृत्व में PSU oil companies ने दुनिया के सबसे कम दामों पर LPG उपलब्ध कराई है।
Global LPG prices पिछले साल 60% से ज्यादा बढ़े,लेकिन Ujjwala consumers को सिर्फ ₹500–550 में cylinder मिलता रहा।
असल कीमत ₹1,100 से भी ऊपर थी — बाकी burden सरकार ने उठाया।
Government of India ने पिछले साल ₹40,000 करोड़ से अधिक खर्च कर महिलाओं को rising prices का असर महसूस नहीं होने दिया।
यह landmark deal India को:
Long-term LPG stability,
Better price control,
और US के साथ मजबूत energy partnership उपलब्ध कराएगी।
