The Washington Telangana Association (WATA) welcomed a record crowd to its annual Bathukamma celebration on Sep 27,2025 at North Creek High School,Bothell transforming the venue into a colorful mosaic of flowers, songs, and shared heritage. Often called Telangana’s “festival of flowers,” Bathukamma honors the goddess Gauri and the bounty of nature through hand-crafted, tiered flower stacks and communal rounds of singing and dancing together .
Attendees — spanning multiple generations and cultures — took part in a traditional Gauri Pooja, followed by a vibrant procession of Bathukamma into the venue. Women proudly carried Bathukammas prepared at home, each beautifully stacked with layers of fresh flowers. The celebrations continued with the playing of Bathukamma, where women joined together in traditional songs and rhythmic dances. The evening concluded with a heartfelt procession to immerse the Bathukammas in water, symbolizing reverence for nature and the cycle of life.
“Bathukamma is where culture becomes community,” said Deputy Consul General of India Suresh. “When thousands move in step — singing, smiling, and carrying flowers—we’re reminded that our shared roots can bloom in a new home.”
“Our next generation of kids led with confidence — on stage, in service, and in celebrating our culture,” noted WATA Founder Vamshi Reddy. “We are proud to bring our community together to mark this occasion and provide a venue to celebrate our culture,” noted WATA President Sandeep.
WATA thanked its community partners and sponsors, Northshore school district as well as the City of Bothell for public-safety support. “Events like Bathukamma showcase the Pacific Northwest as a home for many cultures.We’re proud to see traditions shared so openly and responsibly.,” said noted film producer and community leader TG Vishwa Prasad.
Renowned Telugu film actress and former Miss India Manasa Varanasi joined the women in celebrating Bathukamma, praising the community for preserving traditions far from home.
