Senior IPS officer Praveen Kumar assumed the charge of Director General, Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) on September 30.

An IPS officer of 1994 batch West Bengal cadre, he took over the charge from Shri Rahul Rasgotra, who retired on superannuation. The baton was formally handed over in a brief ceremony held at ITBP Headquarters.

Before joining the elite Force, Praveen Kumar was serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau. Over a distinguished career spanning 32 years, he has held various important assignments both in his Cadre West Bengal and Intelligence Bureau.

For his exemplary services, he has been decorated with the Indian Police Medal (IPM), President’s Police Medal (PPM), Police (Special Duty) Medal, Police Antrik Suraksha Seva Padak, and the Asaadharan Aasuchana Kushalata Padak.
