Biryani didn’t just make it to the finale of Swiggy’s Most Ordered Dish; it owned the stage, with Chicken Biryani taking home the crown. In 2025 alone, India placed 93 million biryani orders, and if you do the maths, that is 194 orders every minute or 3.25 biryanis every second!
57.7 mn chicken Biryani orders

Chicken Biryani, the crown-bearer, was ordered 57.7 million times and earned the highest number of repeat orders because once you fall for it, there’s no going back.

If proof were needed, one Mumbai customer ordered 15 units of Dum Chicken Biryani, along with other items such as 10 plates of Chicken Meatball Kebab, 5 plates of Falafel-E-Khaas and Pepper Paneer Biryani, and 100 gulab jamuns.

This marks the 10th year in a row that biryani has topped the list of the most-ordered dishes on Swiggy.

“Biryani is the undisputed King, proving that while trends may come and go, India’s deep-rooted love for this aromatic masterpiece remains constant,” Swiggy rightly said in its year-end report, and it’s hard to argue with that.
What’s more? Well, this love for Biryani is minus other apps and direct orders at restaurants.
Who are the runners-up?

Well, burgers were the second most loved with 44.2 million orders. Easy to eat, filling and goes well with almost everything – shakes, coffee, tea. It can also be endlessly customisable as per your taste – loaded or light, veg or non-veg. Chicken burgers were loved the most, with nearly 6.3 million orders, while veg burgers followed closely with 4.2 million orders.
Not surprising, really, because as Swiggy perfectly put it – “Snack time (3- 7 pm) is a mood and we all live in it.”

Can you guess the second runner-up? Well, it is that triangular-shaped thing that you crave late at night while binge-watching your favourite show. Any guesses? It’s pizza. Pizza received 40.1 million orders, and veg Pizza alone accounted for 3.6 million orders.
“Veg Pizzas were amongst the top favourites in the list of late-night binges,” Swiggy mentioned in its report.
And as unreal as it sounds, a customer ordered Pizzas worth Rs 47,578.

Veg dosa proved to be another favourite with 26.2 million orders. Describing the love for this South Indian staple, Swiggy called it the “crispy, golden classic”.
And of course, no Indian food story is complete without chai. During snack time (3-7 pm), the iconic chai-samosa combo did what it does best – settle cravings. Around 3.42 million samosas and 2.9 million cups of adrak chai were ordered throughout the year.
Coffee lovers must be jealous. But facts are facts.

“In India, food is never just food, it’s how moments begin- a hurried ‘quick bite’ that turns into comfort food or that late night when hunger arrives before sleep does…,” Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Marketplace, was quoted by HT as saying.
He added, “It isn’t just about the mind-blowing 93 million biryanis ordered, the growing appetite for global cuisines, or rediscovering local favourites. It’s about what sits beneath those numbers: moods, memories, and moments that people chose to celebrate with food.”
