The Ajit Pawar-led NCP has announced its first list of 37 candidates for the high-intense January 15 elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). With the announcement, the NCP has made it clear it will contest the elections on its own. The NCP is part of Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra (BJP, Shinde Sena, NCP), however, the party reportedly has not been able to get what it was asking for during the seat-sharing talks.
Speaking on the selection of candidates, party leader Sana Malik-Shaikh asserted that the list reflects broad social representation.

“NCP announces the first list of 37 candidates for BMC polls. We have ensured representation from various sections of society in our list. The second and third lists will also be finalised and released soon,” Malik-Shaikh told ANI.
