In a major operation, the DST team in Tonk district, Rajasthan, recovered about 150 kilograms of ammonium nitrate hidden inside urea fertiliser bags in a car on New Year’s Eve.
Authorities also seized about 200 dangerous explosive cartridges and six bundles of safety fuse wire. Each of the bundles contained approximately 183 metres of wire, totalling up to 1,100 metres.

Two people who were associated with the vehicle, Surendra Patwa and Surendra Mochi, who are both residents of the Tonk district, have been arrested in relation to the case.
They allegedly carried the explosives in the car from Bundi to Tonk. The DST team had acted after receiving input from an informant.
Police have seized both the explosives and the Maruti Ciaz car.
The police are trying to determine where the explosives were being transported to and for what purpose. Further investigations are underway. |
