Voting counting for the BMC elections will be conducted on January 16 and will start at 10 am. The outcome across Mumbai’s wards is expected after the polling day, once the counting progresses and results are officially announced.

A total of 227 wards have been listed for the BMC election, and it notes that 114 seats are reserved for women, including women from SC, ST and Backwards Classes, with 113 general seats.
As per a report by PTI, 10,344,315 citizens are eligible to cast their votes in the upcoming BMC polls. Out of which 5,516,707 are male, 4,826,509 are female, and 1,099 are in the “Other” category of voters.

Ahead of the polling, preparations include large-scale voter outreach. Mumbai’s civic administration has distributed around 85 lakh voter information slips before the BMC election. Remaining slips will be available at polling stations on voting day. Maharashtra has also declared a four-day dry period from January 13 to January 16, 2026 across municipal regions going to polls. A public holiday has also been issued on January 15. BSE and NSE will also be closed on January 15, 2026.
