In Pimpri-Chinchwad, serious lapses in administrative planning came to light on the day of counting, Marathi news reports said. The counting process in Wards 16, 17, 18, and 22 of the Municipal Corporation was affected, with counting agents left to bear the brunt.
Due to poor management by the ‘B’ regional office, counting agents faced significant inconvenience. From 8 am onwards, counting agents were made to wait outside the gates of the venues without being given any clear instructions, Lokmat said in a report.
While the counting of postal ballots was in progress, the display screens in the media room remained switched off, preventing the timely availability of official result updates. This led to strong resentment among agents, supporters of candidates, and journalists alike, the Marathi news outlet said.
There is now a growing demand from various quarters that the concerned officials provide an immediate explanation for the confusion and that the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation administration take concrete measures to ensure such lapses are not repeated.
