New details emerged about the Red Fort blast case this week as the Enforcement Directorate filed a chargesheet against Al Falah University in Faridabad. The medical school came under the scanner after three doctors were identified as primary suspects in the attack. It has now come to light that doctors were hired under false pretenses while ‘patients’ were procured ahead of an inspection by the National Medical Commission.
‘Fake’ doctors and patients?

The prosecution complaint filed by the ED claims that the University hired “on paper” doctors for the sole purpose of obtaining NMC clearance and passing other regulatory inspections. Officials cited the chargesheet to tell PTI that these individuals were listed under a “22 days punch” or “two days per week” clause to be represented as regular faculty. But in reality they neither attended college on a regular basis nor took classes or tended to patients.
Some text and video chats reportedly attached with the chargesheet reveal that Al Falah had no patients, staff or doctors present within the hospital premises less than three weeks prior to the NMC inspection. It added that the entire facility appeared to be “non-functional”. It cited chats and records to allege that “fake” patients were admitted before the inspection.

The agency alleged that Al Falah had obtained certificates for the establishment of various UG and PG courses from the Haryana government through “fraudulent means”.

ED attaches Al Falah University assets

The Enforcement Directorate also attached assets worth about Rs 140 crore on Friday. The chargesheet was filed against Al Falah Group chairman Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui and his trust. Officials said 54-acres land of the university based in Dhauj area of Faridabad, the buildings of the university, those belonging to various schools and departments and hostels has been attached as part of a provisional order issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
