Delhi Traffic Advisory Republic Day 2026: Ahead of the Republic Day celebrationson Monday, Delhi Traffic Policehas announced traffic restrictions and alternative routes across the city. The Republic Day parade will start at 10.30 am from Vijay Chowk and end at the Red Fort.
Security has been tightened in New Delhi, Central and North Delhi districts, which include high-security and important locations such as Parliament, India Gate and the Red Fort. The paradewill move through Vijay Chowk, Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose statue, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhash Marg before reaching the Red Fort.
According to the Delhi Traffic Police advisory, there will be no traffic on Kartavya Path between Vijay Chowk and India Gate from 6 pm on Sunday until the parade is over. Cross-traffic on Kartavya Path at Rafi Marg, Janpath and Man Singh Road will not be allowed from 10 pm on Sunday until the event ends.

C-Hexagon near India Gate will remain closed to traffic from 9.15 am on Monday until the parade crosses Tilak Marg. From 10.30 am on Monday, vehicles will not be allowed on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Subhash Marg, with cross-traffic permitted only depending on the movement of the parade.

Republic Day parade 2026: Suggested alternative routes
During the rehearsal, commuters are advised to use alternative routes such as Ring Road via Ashram Chowk, Sarai Kale Khan, IP Flyover and Raj Ghat, or routes passing through Aurobindo Marg, AIIMS Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, Vande Mataram Marg, Shankar Road, Park Street and Mandir Marg.
Other suggested routes include Ring Road through Bhairon Road, Mathura Road, Lodhi Road, Safdarjung Road, Panchsheel Marg, Upper Ridge Road and Vande Mataram Marg, depending on the direction of travel.
Republic Day parade 2026: Metro services to run normally
Delhi Police has clarified that metro train services will continue without disruption. However, city bus services may be restricted at certain locations during the parade and rehearsal.

The government has also announced that the President of the European Council, António Luís Santos da Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will be the Chief Guests at India’s 77th Republic Day celebrations. Both leaders will be on a State Visit to India from January 25 to 27, 2026, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. |
