This year's Onam Bumper lottery winner was identified as Sarath S. Nair from Alappuzha district. Earlier, it was speculated that the winner was from Kochi as the ticket was sold from Nettoor, Ernakulam.

Sarath S. Nair, who hails from Thuravoor, Alappuzha, is an employee at Nippon Paints in Nettoor. His family members include wife, child, parents and brother. This was the first time he bought a Bumper ticket

Sarath bought the winning Thiruvonam Bumper ticket TH 577825 from Nettoor lottery agent M.T. Lateesh. On Monday, he submitted the ticket at the State Bank of India branch in Thaikkattussery, Thuravoor.
Expressing his excitement, he told Manorama News, "I informed my brother first and we verified the number together. We decided to reveal it only after submitting the ticket to the bank. We are yet to decide what to do with the prize money."
Lottery agent Latheesh acquired the tickets from the Vytila outlet of Bhagavathy Agencies based in Attingal, Thiruvananthapuram. Besides the winning ticket, nine other tickets with the winning number from different series were also sold by Latheesh.
There were speculations regarding the lottery winner in the first two days. Though the ticket was originally from Palakkad, Bhagavathy Agencies sold it in Ernakulam and finally it was bought by Alappuzha native Sarath from Ernakulam's Nettoor.
Palakkad district sold 14.07 lakh tickets, emerging the topper this time. It was followed by Thrissur with 9.37 lakh tickets and Thiruvananthapuram with 8.75 lakh tickets. |
