Dell Technologies said on Wednesday it will supply advanced AI infrastructure to sovereign cloud provider NxtGen AI, a subsidiary of NxtGen Cloud Technologies, to build what the companies call the country’s first and largest dedicated “AI factory.”
Under the partnership, NxtGen will deploy Dell’s AI Factory with Nvidia solutions to create a large AI cluster capable of training and running generative, agentic and physical AI models, expanding high-performance AI services for enterprises, start-ups and government programmes across India.
Dell will provide liquid-cooled PowerEdge XE9685L servers delivered through its integrated rack systems, alongside storage and compute hardware, to meet rising demand for AI-as-a-service and large-scale GPU capacity, the companies said.
The deployment will include more than 4,000 Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, Nvidia BlueField-3 data processing units and Spectrum-X networking, forming the backbone of what NxtGen described as India’s largest AI model-training cluster built and operated entirely within the country’s sovereign cloud framework.
India has stepped up efforts to build domestic AI capabilities as part of a broader push to support innovation, digital public infrastructure and advanced computing while keeping sensitive data within national borders.
“India’s rapid AI growth demands strong, reliable and future-ready infrastructure,” Dell India President and Managing Director Manish Gupta said, adding that the collaboration would help Indian organisations deploy AI at scale in a secure and cost-effective manner.
NxtGen Managing Director and Chief Executive A.S. Rajgopal said the project marked a milestone for India’s AI ecosystem, enabling the next generation of locally developed AI models and applications.
Dell’s AI Factory with Nvidia platform, which combines infrastructure, software and services, is already used by more than 3,000 customers globally and is designed to support demanding AI workloads for both training and inference.
Nvidia’s Asia South Managing Director Vishal Dhupar said the use of Blackwell GPUs and high-performance networking would provide the accelerated computing foundation needed to support India’s AI ambitions. |
