Five rounds of gunfire were reported outside the Mumbai residence of filmmaker Rohit Shetty in the Juhu area early this morning. No injuries were reported in the incident.
It is not yet clear whether Rohit Shetty was present inside the house at the time of the firing. Police said the motive behind the incident is still unknown.
Teams from the Juhu Police Station and the Mumbai crime branch rushed to the spot soon after the incident and began an investigation.
Officials said all possible angles are being examined to identify those behind the firing. As a precaution, heavy security has been deployed around Shetty’s residential building.
Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
Rohit Shetty is one of Bollywood’s most successful directors, best known for blockbuster franchises such as Golmaal and Singham.
The incident has drawn comparisons to a similar firing outside actor Salman Khan’s Bandra residence in 2024, when two bike-borne men fired multiple rounds and escaped.
That attack was later claimed by the gang of Lawrence Bishnoi, which also took responsibility for the murder of Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique.
Following that incident, Salman Khan has been under tight security due to repeated threats.
Police are now working to determine whether today’s firing has any links to past incidents or criminal networks. |
