Bihar Leader of the Opposition and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said that he hopes that the upcoming elections in the state would be conducted in a “fair” manner. The statement comes after his party’s meeting with the ECI delegation, including Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. This comes amid the EC reviewing the poll preparedness in the poll-bound Bihar.
‘Hope Bihar elections will be fair’
“Our party’s representatives had gone and put forward their views. We hope that this time the Bihar elections will be fair,” he told reporters, before stressing, “Elections should not be held to help anyone.”

Yadav, who is also the Chief Ministerial candidate of the Mahagathbandhan, further added, “In a democracy, the public is the master. The public has every right that the elections should be held in a good environment.”
Election Commission in poll-bound Bihar
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is in poll-bound Bihar for two days and convened a meeting with political parties ahead of the state’s upcoming Assembly elections. The meeting, chaired by CEC Kumar, was with the political parties of Bihar, along with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, Bihar Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjyal, and senior officials of the Commission.

The ECI stressed that political parties should also ensure a transparent electoral process, and called on the voters to celebrate the “festival of elections” with harmony and mutual respect.
During the meeting, the representatives of the political parties expressed gratitude towards the ECI for cleaning up the electoral rolls through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), and welcomed the decision to cap the number of voters per polling station at 1,200.
The representatives further suggested that the elections be held after the Chhath festival for a maximum voter turnout and recommended minimising the number of polling phases.
