Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, 22 March became the longest-serving head of a government in India. With 8,931 days in office as head of government, first as Gujarat CM and then as PM, PM Modi overtook former Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling’s record of 8,930 days.
Union Ministers, BJP Chief Ministers congratulated PM on the feat. The PM, meanwhile, chaired a meeting to oversee energy preparedness in the country in the wake of the West Asia crisis.
PM Modi led his party to victory in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections in 2014, 2019 and 2024.
It was in the 75th Independence Day speech that PM talked about the Viksit Bharat at 2047 vision and since then government policies have been centred around this larger theme.
Apart from governance, PM remains much in demand for every election, across the country. Some causes dear to the PM include “Ek Bharat, Shrehtha Bharat”, where the implicit idea is that India is one and united, and it is in this unity in diversity that India shines the best.
In the economic paradigm, it’s Aatmanirbharta, or self-reliance, that has been much in focus through his term. The thrust on self-reliance has paid rich dividends as was witnessed during Operation Sindoor, and the power of indigenously-developed weaponry.
In addition to Aatmanirbhrta, there’s been a thrust on free trade agreements (FTAs) for India. In world affairs, under PM Modi, India has been positioned as a leading, uniting voice of the Global South.
An extremely powerful orator, PM combines charisma with people connect – this has been instrumental in the rise of the BJP system in the country.
It’s, however, Vision Vikshit Bharat 2047, a long-term national blueprint, spelled out by the PM, that has the potential to bring together one and all, in addition to taking India to the elite group of world nations. (With agency inputs) |
