The University of Western Australia (UWA) India has appointed Professor Rajaraman Eri as its Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor, reinforcing the university's leadership team as it expands its academic, research and industry engagement in India.
Professor Eri brings more than 20 years of experience in academic leadership, biomedical research, higher education and international collaboration. Prior to this appointment, he served as Associate Dean, School of Sciences at RMIT University, where he led academic, research and industry engagement initiatives. He has also held senior leadership roles at the University of Tasmania, where he established a biomedical sciences and translational research programme.
His research expertise spans food science, nutrition, microbiome research and gut health, with a focus on translating scientific discoveries into practical healthcare outcomes.
In his new role, Professor Eri will lead UWA India's strategic growth by strengthening academic programmes, expanding partnerships with universities and industry, enhancing student engagement and fostering research collaboration between India and Australia.
Commenting on the appointment, Professor Amit Chakma, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Western Australia, said the move reflects the university's long-term commitment to India as a strategic partner and will further strengthen academic and research collaboration between the two countries.
