Slot machines are not legal for public use in Kentucky. The state strictly prohibits casino-style gambling, including slot machines, outside of specific exceptions. 
The primary legal forms of gambling in Kentucky are the state lottery, horse race betting （both at tracks and through historical horse racing machines）, and charitable gaming. Historical horse racing （HHR） machines, which look and play similarly to slot machines but are legally classified as pari-mutuel wagering on past horse races, are permitted at licensed horse racing venues.
Owning or operating an illegal slot machine is a criminal offense in Kentucky. There are no commercial casinos in the state. Therefore, traditional slot machines found in casinos in other states are not legal for public play in Kentucky. |
