Kabaddi is a traditional Indian contact sport that originated in ancient India. The game is played between two teams of seven players each.
The objective of kabaddi is for a single player on offense, referred to as a raider, to run into the opposing team\“s half of the court, tag out as many of their defenders as possible, and return to their own half of the court, all without being tackled by the defenders, and in a single breath.
Points are scored for each player tagged by the raider, while the opposing team earns a point for stopping the raider. The raider must chant kabaddi, kabaddi during the whole raid.
Kabaddi is the national game of Bangladesh and is also popular in other countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Iran. The sport has gained international recognition through events like the Kabaddi World Cup and Pro Kabaddi League. |
