Congress Leader Piyanka Gandhi urged the Centre and state government to act immediately to solve the air pollution and smog crisis in Delhi.
On a post on X, she asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to take immediate steps to end the “filthy smog people are breathing."
“Returning to the Delhi air from Wayanad first, then Bachwara in Bihar, is truly shocking. The pollution enveloping this city is like a grey shroud thrown over it,” Priyanka said.

“It’s really about time all of us get together, regardless of our political compulsions, and do something about it. The central and state governments need to act immediately. We will all support and cooperate with whatever actions they choose to take to mitigate this awful situation. Year after year, the citizens of Delhi are subjected to this toxicity with no recourse,” she added.
"Those who suffer from respiratory issues, children who commute to school every day, and senior citizens, especially, need urgent intervention to clear the filthy smog we are all breathing," the Congress leader said.
On Sunday, the AQI remained at poor and very poor in many parts of the region.
Slow wind speeds in the morning meant that pollutants in the air had reduced dispersion, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. Wind speed was below 8 kmph from the northwestern direction. The AQI at the national capital stood at 386, rising from 303 on Saturday.
At 18 monitoring stations, the AQI went to severe levels, standing above 400. The areas include Siri Fort, RK Puram, Punjabi Bagh, CRRI Mathura Road, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Nehru Nagar, Dwarka Sector 8, Ashok Vihar, Jahangirpuri, Rohini, Vivek Vihar, Wazirpur, Bawana, Pusa, Mundka, Anand Vihar, Chandni Chowk, and Burari Crossing.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has begun to install automatic water misting systems along major city roads in a second attempt in an effort to control the pollution, officials said on Friday.
