A woman was arrested in Bengalurufor allegedly attacking a woman home guard after an argument that reportedly included remarks about clothing when the latter was on traffic duty. The 31-year-old accused, identified as Damini alias Mohini, is a resident of Narayanapura in Mahadevapura.
She works with a private company. Mohini was arrested on charges of assault, obstructing a public servant from discharging duty, and using abusive language under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Incident near KR Puram Railway Station
According to police, the incident occurred near KR Puram Railway Station on January 9 around 3 pm. The victim, Lakshmi Narasamma (36), a home guard attached to the Ramamurthy Nagar Traffic Police Station, was deployed at a busy junction to manage traffic.

Police said Narasamma was instructing pedestrians and motorists to move to the side of the road to ease congestion when a woman standing in the middle of the road objected. Regardless of repeated requests, the woman allegedly refused to cooperate and began arguing with the home guard.
Argument escalates into assault
The situation escalated when the accused allegedly abused the home guard using filthy language and suddenly attacked her. Police said the woman pulled Narasamma’s hair, slapped her, and struck her repeatedly.
During the scuffle, the accused allegedly snatched the baton from the home guard and continued the assault. Narasamma suffered bleeding injuries to her face and nose.
Passers-by intervene, accused arrested
Passers-by intervened and rescued the home guard, following which the accused fled the spot. The injured home guard was later shifted to a government hospital for treatment.
“Later, she advised Damini to wear decent clothes to avoid such incidents. She also asked her not to walk on the road due to heavy traffic. Angered by Narasamma’s remarks, Damini suddenly attacked her,” a senior police officer said told TOI.
Based on Narasamma’s complaint, Damini was arrested and produced before a court. The court remanded her to judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Prison. Police said Damini told them she had attended school in the Maldives and later completed aBBM degreefrom a private college in the city. |
