Mira-bhayandar Municipal Corporation Election Result 2026 Live : For over three years, major municipalities across Maharashtra have been governed by state-appointed administrators rather than elected citizen representatives, centralising power under municipal commissioners. Following persistent delays since 2022— primarily due to legal disputes over OBC quotas —the Supreme Court intervened in late November 2025. The Court has now cleared the path for local polls, mandating that the election process be completed by January 31, 2026.

BMC Election Results 2026 Live Updates: Uddhav Thackeray demands against state election commissioner
The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief raised allegations of electoral malpractice during the local body polls and demanded action against election officials. Uddhav Thackeray alleged that the indelible ink applied to electors' fingers after voting is being easily removed with nail polish remover and sanitisers --- allowing some people to appear to vote multiple times. He said that such a situation is proof of 'collusion' between the ruling Mahayuti and the State Election Commission (SEC).

"There is collusion between the Election Commission and the ruling party. Many irregularities are happening...Has a sanitiser agency hired by the Election Commission? I think action should be taken against the Election Commissioner. What have they done in the last nine years? The Election Commission is a servant, not a king...Why is the election commissioner taking a salary? The BMC election is happening after nine years. What did they do for 9 years?" he asked during a press conference.

BMC Election Results 2026 Live Updates: 'We will achieve great success' - AIMIM dismisses exit polls

"This is an exit poll, not an accurate poll, and whatever is being shown, this isn't the first time it's happened. It's happened many times before that something was shown in the poll, and in the end, it turned out to be something else. Tomorrow is the vote counting, so tomorrow the results will come out. By tomorrow evening, everything will be clear. Who won, who lost, everything will be known... We are confident that the people have blessed us with their votes... We will achieve great success," AIMIM National Spokesperson Waris Pathan told ANI.

Janmat: BJP + Shiv Sena - 138  seats
Saam TV: BJP + Shiv Sena -   84 seats plus 35 seats

We had already said that more than 150 of our people will be elected. Today, looking at the exit polls and even if you calculate the mega exit poll of the entire exit polls, this is what will come before you that Mahayuti will touch 150 in any case and the mayor will be Marathi and Hindu only," Raju Waghmare told ANI.

Mankhurd-Govandi-Deonar-Chembur (East fringe) Ward 129 to 141 Election Results 2026 Live Updates: Voter left stunned after reaching booth, poll 'already cast in her name'

According to a report by the Free Press Journal, a voter was left stunned after reaching her polling booth in Govandi on Thursday. 44-year-old Sujata Subramaniam told the publication that she was barred after showing her Aadhar card to polling officials. They told her that someone had already voted against her name.
“The officials had no explanation. They also refused to be photographed. I somehow managed to take a picture of the polling officer’s I-card. Finally, a woman officer condescended to give me a paper ballot paper. I told her it is my constitutional right to cast my vote and she is not doing me a favour. But I was in for a further shock when I saw that the ballot paper was not even sealed in front of me. I won’t be in the least surprised if it is thrown in the dustbin,” she told the publication.

The BMC elections were marred by a significant controversy following allegations over the use of "indelible" ink to mark voters' fingers. Opposition leaders Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray both claimed that the colour used to stain voters' fingers was easily removable.
The State Election Commission had later denied these claims, stating the ink is of good quality and hard to remove. Maharashtra State Election Commissioner DT Waghmare firmly rejected the claims --- asserting that there was no wrongdoing in the polling process and alleging a deliberate attempt to create confusion.
