Mumbai BMC Election Results 2026 Live Updates: Elections were held for the 227-member Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on Thursday — with votes set to be tallied from 10 am today. Mumbai recorded a voter turnout in the 46% to 50% range as 1700 candidates faced off for control of the richest civic body in the country.

What do the exit polls say?
Predictions released soon after voting closed on Thursday evening indicate a major win for the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in Mumbai. The newly allied Thackeray brothers are likely to finish second while the Congress and its allies fail to put up a strong show. Exit polls though, don’t always get it right.
Axis My India has forecast a 131 to 151 seat victory for the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance. Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS-NCP (SP) are expected to secure 58 to 68 seats. The Congress-VBA-RSP alliance is likely to garner 12 to 16 seats while others nab 6 to 12 seats.
According to DV Research, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is poised to win 107-122 seats; the Thackeray brothers’ alliance 68-83 seats; the Congress-led alliance 18-35 seats; and others 8-15 seats.
According to the Janmat exit poll, the BJP and Shiv Sena are poised to win 138 seats; the Shiv Sena (UBT)-MNS-NCP (SP) alliance 62 seats; the Congress-led alliance 20 seats; and others 7 seats. The poll has predicted a margin of error of plus or minus five seats.
The Saam TV exit poll predicted 84 seats for the BJP, 35 for its ally Shiv Sena, 65 for Shiv Sena (UBT), three for NCP (SP), ten for MNS. It said the Congress-led alliance would get 23 seats, the NCP three seats and others five seats.

When will counting of votes begin?
According to the State Election Commission, the counting of votes will begin across the state from 10:00 am. Votes will be counted in batches for BMC — with two constituencies being tallied at a time.

BMC Election Results 2026 Live Updates: Uddhav Thackeray demands against state election commissioner
The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief raised allegations of electoral malpractice during the local body polls and demanded action against election officials. Uddhav Thackeray alleged that the indelible ink applied to electors' fingers after voting is being easily removed with nail polish remover and sanitisers --- allowing some people to appear to vote multiple times. He said that such a situation is proof of 'collusion' between the ruling Mahayuti and the State Election Commission (SEC).
"There is collusion between the Election Commission and the ruling party. Many irregularities are happening...Has a sanitiser agency hired by the Election Commission? I think action should be taken against the Election Commissioner. What have they done in the last nine years? The Election Commission is a servant, not a king...Why is the election commissioner taking a salary? The BMC election is happening after nine years. What did they do for 9 years?" he asked during a press conference.

Shiv Sena leader Raju Waghmare has predicted that the ruling Mahayuti will touch 150 seats no matter how matters proceeded on Friday.
"The results of the exit polls that are coming before everyone are also our expectation that the Mahayuti government will be formed in this Mumbai Municipal Corporation. We had already said that more than 150 of our people will be elected. Today, looking at the exit polls and even if you calculate the mega exit poll of the entire exit polls, this is what will come before you that Mahayuti will touch 150 in any case and the mayor will be Marathi and Hindu only," Raju Waghmare told ANI.

According to a report by the Free Press Journal, a voter was left stunned after reaching her polling booth in Govandi on Thursday. 44-year-old Sujata Subramaniam told the publication that she was barred after showing her Aadhar card to polling officials. They told her that someone had already voted against her name.
“The officials had no explanation. They also refused to be photographed. I somehow managed to take a picture of the polling officer’s I-card. Finally, a woman officer condescended to give me a paper ballot paper. I told her it is my constitutional right to cast my vote and she is not doing me a favour. But I was in for a further shock when I saw that the ballot paper was not even sealed in front of me. I won’t be in the least surprised if it is thrown in the dustbin,” she told the publication.

As per official data, 41.08% of the eligible voters had cast their ballots in Mumbai, which has more than 1 crore electors, till 3:30 pm. The data showed that ward no 114 in suburban Bhandup recorded the highest turnout at 53.34%. Ward no 227 in Colaba, South Mumbai, reported the lowest turnout of 15.73% till 3.30 pm.
Speaking shortly after voting ended at 5.30 pm on Thursday, State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare said the turnout in the 29 civic bodies was in the 46 per cent-50 per cent range. The exact polling figures will be declared later

Borivali ward 8 to 17 elections results 2026 live updates: Counting of votes at 23 designated centres
Municipal Commissioner and District Election Officer Bhushan Gagrani has said that the counting of votes for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls will be held at 23 designated counting centres in Mumbai. Elaborate arrangements are in place to ensure security, traffic management and maintenance of law and order.
According to the BMC, a total of 23 Returning Officers have been appointed for the 227 election wards within the municipal limits. Strong rooms and counting venues under the jurisdiction of each Returning Officer have been designated for the process and have received the necessary approvals from the Public Works Department and the Police Department.
