The National Testing Agency (NTA) has warned candidates and parents that submitting fake or AI-generated optical mark recognition (OMR) answer sheets for scrutiny could invite legal action, after detecting multiple counterfeit documents during the recent NEET-UG objection process.
The agency said in a post on social media platform X late on Friday that it had received several complaints accompanied by fake OMR sheets and was closely examining all submissions.
"In the wake of many OMR sheets submitted for scrutiny turning out to be fake/AI generated, students and parents are advised to submit only original OMRs for scrutiny. Any fake/AI generated OMR may invite legal action against the complainant," the NTA said.
The warning comes days after the agency closed the objection window for scanned OMR answer sheets of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), India's nationwide medical entrance examination.
The NTA had released scanned images of candidates' OMR answer sheets and recorded responses on 13 July for the examination held on 21 June, allowing candidates to verify whether their marked answers matched the responses recorded by the agency.
Candidates who found discrepancies were permitted to challenge the recorded responses by paying a non-refundable processing fee of Rs 200 per question. The agency said the fee would be refunded if a candidate's claim was found to be valid and it was established that the scanning agency had incorrectly read the responses.
The objection window closed on 15 July, a day before the NEET-UG 2026 results were announced. |
