IHCL signs new Tree of Life hotel in Chettinad

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed Tree of Life Kanadukathan in Chettinad, Tamil Nadu, expanding its presence in the state's heritage hospitality segment. The brownfield project will involve the conversion of an existing heritage-style Chettiar property.
Commenting on the development, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said, “Chettinad’s rich architecture and cultural legacy continues to attract travellers seeking immersive experiences. Anchored in authenticity and a deep sense of place, Tree of Life brings its distinctive, experience-led approach to this setting. This signing presents an opportunity to pioneer a new destination and establish presence in an emerging heritage market. We are delighted to continue our partnership with AMPA Group for this project.”
Located in Kanadukathan, the 20-key hotel will reflect the region's architectural heritage. The property will feature an all-day dining restaurant, lounge, swimming pool, spa and fitness centre.
Ampa Palaniappan, Managing Director, AMPA Group, said, “We are pleased to partner with IHCL to restore and reimagine a historic Chettiar property. This project aims to contribute to the region’s growing tourism ecosystem.” Kanadukathan is known for its heritage architecture and cultural events, including the Chettinad Heritage Festival, Aadi Perukku and Navaratri.
With this signing, IHCL's portfolio in Tamil Nadu will expand to 33 hotels, including 19 operational properties and 14 under development.
